Debasis Sen in Melbourne
Rohit Sharma is going through a poor run of form in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian captain has managed scores of 10, 3 and 6 runs in the series so far. Rohit had to miss the first Test match in Perth because of the birth of his second child. He decided to come down the order following KL Rahul’s impressive show with the bat in the opening game. The change, though, has not been fruitful as the Australian fast bowlers got the better of him in all the three innings.
On being asked where his batting order will be for the Boxing Day Test, the Indian captain said he will do whatever is the best for the team.
“Let’s not worry about who bats where. Something that we need to figure out and not something that I would be discussing here. We will do what is best for the team,” Rohit said in the pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, the Indian team had their final practice session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, which gets underway from December 26. As expected, hundreds of fans, mostly Indians, gathered at the nets area, at the G, in order to cheer their favourite players. The fans were making a lot of noise which did not go down well with senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit.
